David Weeks Design
Cubebot
A wooden puzzle transformed into monumental foam seating.
Cubebot takes David Weeks’ articulated wooden figure and enlarges it into an expressive object for sitting, playing and gathering.
A character, a construction and a place to sit.
Made from interlocking foam components, the familiar robot can stretch out, sit upright or break into individual elements. Its generous scale turns a collectible object into an inhabitable installation with a strong graphic presence.
Forms
One figure, many positions.
Articulated Form
The complete figure is assembled from large interlocking foam components.
Reclined
Open limbs and a tilted body create an informal lounge position.
Upright
The body and arms become a bold high-backed seat with a recognisable face.
Interlocking Body
Precisely cut slots and connecting rods give the foam figure its movable structure.
Scales
Medium and Large.
Two articulated Cubebot versions at different scales.
Cubebot Medium
Medium-scale articulated Cubebot.
Cubebot Large
Large-scale articulated Cubebot.
Studio & Making
From object to oversized installation.

Technical
Articulated foam in multiple scales.
The Cubebot archive documents Small, Medium, Large and Giant versions, together with separate Cubehead elements. Individual foam parts connect through machined slots and internal rods, allowing the figure to be assembled and repositioned. Colour and scale can be adapted for project-specific installations.
Further dimensions, colours and project-specific configurations can be developed through Custom Lab.
